East Quay Sewerage Pumping Station Capital Maintenance Update

The initial brief highlighted that the building was in a very poor state of repair and mechanically the system was in need of attention.
The Northavon approach was to evaluate the existing mechanical systems to establish the need for replacement, renovation and re-use. The existing Storm Pumps, although previous generation, were still in good condition so they were fully overhauled and re-used – delivering a cost saving in excess of £100,000 in real terms. A bespoke MCC Panel was designed and manufactured to bring this station up to the required specification, with electrolytic starters being introduced to complement the storm pumps. The electrolytic starters allowed the existing slip-ring motors to operate within the new MCC.
Cost savings such as these were realised by taking the required time to thoroughly evaluate the brief, scope the project and by integrating specific features into our proposed designs.
